Understand the new tax on private jet flights in France

France is implementing a new tax on private jet flights, and it is important that you, as a customer of RC Monaco Jets, understand this change. From March 1, 2025, all passengers departing from French airports on private jet flights will be subject to this new tax. This article explains the key details of the tax, how it works, and what impacts it has on your travels.

What is the new tax?

The new tax, included in the 2025 French budget, is a tax applied to all passengers using private jets for flights departing from France. The base amount of the tax is €420 per passenger, but this amount can vary depending on the destination of the flight and the type of aircraft used. The main objective of the measure is to reduce carbon emissions associated with private aviation and to fund sustainability projects.

How is the tax calculated?

The tax is determined based on two main factors:

The destination of the flight and the type of aircraft.

For example:
A short-haul flight within Europe may be taxed at €420 per passenger.
A transcontinental flight may have a significantly higher tax rate, depending on the aircraft and the distance.

See below:

Why was the tax created?

The new passenger tax is part of the fiscal measures that France plans to adopt in 2025, with the aim of increasing revenue from private aviation. According to the government, the tax should support public finance initiatives by creating specific taxes for this segment.

The rule applies specifically to non-scheduled private flights operated by business aircraft, establishing a new tax structure for private aviation within the context of the country's broader fiscal policies.

This measure was officially introduced by France's national finance law, as set out in Articles L. 422-22 and L. 422-22-1 of the French Tax Code.

How does the tax affect RC Monaco Jets customers?

To comply with the new legislation, RC Monaco Jets will incorporate the tax into the price of all flights departing from France.

See below for details on how this will affect your private jet bookings:

Applicable for all departures in France: all passengers boarding a private jet from French airports will be subject to the tax rate.

Price inclusive: the tax will be automatically added to the final price of the flight.

Applies to repositioning flights: the tax will also be charged on repositioning (empty leg) flights originating from French airports.

Example: for private jet flights departing from France to other European countries, each passenger will pay a tax of €420 (excluding VAT). For flights departing and landing in France, the fee will be €462 per passenger, due to the 10% VAT surcharge. However, this VAT does not apply to international departures from French airports.

We will ensure a seamless and transparent booking experience for our customers.

RC Monaco Jets is prepared to help you navigate these changes, offering tailored solutions that maintain the convenience and comfort you expect.
